(English follows)Animé par : Sophia Borowska et Teresa Dorey Description : Cet atelier explorera les approches de la durabilité et du recyclage des matériaux dans la création artistique, en mettant l'accent sur le partage des compétences et des ressources. Les artistes Sophia Borowska et Teresa Dorey montreront des exemples de la façon dont nous utilisons des matériaux recyclés dans nos pratiques et pourquoi cela est important pour nous. Après la présentation, il y aura une table ronde sur l'importance de l'utilisation de matériaux trouvés ou recyclés dans diverses pratiques artistiques. Ensemble, nous créerons un document de ressources dans lequel les participant.e.s pourront suggérer où trouver des matériaux recyclés, qui sera mis en ligne. Pour l'échange de matériaux, des matériaux seront fournis et tou.te.s sont encouragé.e.s à apporter des matériaux qui ne leur servent plus pour les échanger avec le groupe. Dans ce volet de l'atelier, les artistes et participant.e.s réfléchiront à des façons d'utiliser les matériaux. L’objectif de cet atelier est d'engager des créatif.ve.s de la communauté montréalaise qui partagent un intérêt pour la durabilité et une curiosité pour les matériaux usagés.Veuillez noter :- Les participant.e.s sont encouragés à apporter des matériaux usagés pour contribuer à l'échange de matériaux- L'atelier sera donné en anglais

À propos de Sophia Borowska :Sophia Borowska est une artiste et tisserande basée à Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. Basé sur des installations, son travail explore l'intersection entre les textiles, le corps et l'environnement bâti en combinant des processus artisanaux avec des matériaux de construction récupérés. Sophia a exposé à travers le Canada et à l'étranger, privilégiant surtout les centres d'artistes autogérés et les événements in situ. Dorey a participé à des résidences et a été publiée et exposée au Canada et à l'étranger. Elle a reçu diverses subventions, dont les plus récentes du Conseil des Arts du Canada et de la Société de développement des entreprises culturelles. Facilitated by: Sophia Borowska and Teresa Dorey Description: This workshop will explore sustainability and material recycling approaches in art-making, with an emphasis on skill and resource sharing. Artists Sophia Borowska and Teresa Dorey will show examples of how they use upcycled materials in their practices and why they are essential. Following the presentation, they will engage in a roundtable discussion on the significance of using found or recycled materials in diverse art practices. Together the artists and participants will create a resource document in which participants can suggest where to find recycled materials, which will be made available online. For the Materials Swap, some materials will be provided and all are encouraged to bring materials that no longer serve them for exchange with the group. In this component of the workshop the artists and participants will brainstorm ways to use materials. The aim of this workshop is to engage creatives of the Montreal community that share an interest in sustainability and a curiosity to engage with used materials. Please note:- Participants are encouraged to bring used materials to contribute to the materials swap - The workshop will be delivered in English

About Sophia Borowska:Sophia Borowska is an artist and weaver based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. Her installation-based work explores the intersection between textiles, the body, and the built environment by combining craft processes with reclaimed construction materials. Sophia has exhibited across Canada and internationally, mostly favouring artist-run centres and site-specific events. Dorey has participated in residencies, and been published and exhibited across Canada and Internationally. She has been the recipient of various grants, most recently from Canada Council for the Arts and Société de développement des entreprises culturelles.
