Starlings Community is a not-for -profit in Calgary, AB whose mission is to:co-createa community that can meet children and families impacted by parental addiction and other ACES where they are at and:​strengthen their resilience, support their well-being, and facilitate their healing.Our goal: stop the intergeneration transmission of toxic stress (trauma), and instead put the cycle of resilience and healing on repeat through community.

Starlings Community INC

A 6-week virtual empowerment program for Canadians who have been impacted by the stress and stigma of a parent's substance use.

If you have been affected by the stress and/or stigma related to a parent&#x27;s substance use such as opioids, alcohol, or other, and are 16 years old and up, this peer group is for you! In this 6 week peer program, a variety of peers from university students to parents, will lead the group through the Forward with Hope Guide, a 100 page guide of stories and information for impacted individuals:Key focus areas include:<ul><li>increasing your understanding of how your childhood stress can be impacting your emotions, behaviours, and well-being today</li></ul><ul><li>consider and find, &quot; who are my safe people and spaces&quot; and where do I find them</li></ul><ul><li>see and support your strength and resilience</li></ul><ul><li>feel connected t a peer community through story telling</li></ul><ul><li>confidently navigate and connect with systems and community supports</li><li>increasing your sense of hope and belonging</li></ul>The cost of the program includes the program, as well as the cost of a hardcopy of the peer guide, journal, and other materials as well as shipping within Canada, and includes meeting dates on July 7, 14, 21, 28, August 4 and 11 (sorry, no refunds available). If you are OUTSIDE of Canada, please email info@starlings.ca to inquire about additional shipping costs.
