The mission of the SMWS is to be effective and conscientious stewards of the S’amunu Watershed, by preserving, restoring, and renewing the S’amunu (Somenos) Watershed eco-system through community volunteerism, education, and liaison with various like-minded groups.

Hello Friends! Our upcoming Riparian Planting Party (Part 1) volunteer event is set for Saturday, June 11th, (9:00am - 12:00pm).

Join us at our upcoming &quot;Riparian Planting Party - Part 1&quot; volunteer event!Date: Saturday, June 11 (9:00am -12:00pm)Location: Meet at the end of York Road - approx. 5950 York Rd, Duncan, BC (next to the Hamlets at Duncan)You will have the opportunity to join SMWS staff and other volunteers to start tree planting on Somenos Creek to protect this sensitive riparian habitat &amp; shade invasive Parrot&#x27;s feather. So come on out to see how it works!On Saturday, we will meet you at the end of York Road, next to the &#x27;The Hamlets at Duncan&#x27; at 9 am, grab our gear, and walk down to the planting site together. If you come later, join us down by the creek (see planting sites on map). We will provide work gloves, and shovels. Dress for the weather and we recommend bringing sturdy boots, your favourite gardening gloves and personal water.The event will be about 3 hours rain or shine, with a mid-way break where we will provide refreshments and snacks.Bring your friends and family!
