ISF2022: Closing Party feat. Madison McFerrin

Established in 2011, the Indian Summer Festival (ISF) is a multi-disciplinary arts festival produced by the Indian Summer Arts Society, a not-for-profit charitable arts organization based in Vancouver, Canada, on the unceded Coast Salish territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. This year’s festival runs from July 4-14 2024. Its mission is to offer multi-art experiences of exceptional caliber, thoughtfully curated through a South Asian lens. ISF connects rich and complex pasts with the emerging future, delighting audiences while provoking necessary dialogue and debate.

Sea Creatures, Soundscapes and Sunsets“This is Soul-capella!” – Questlove (about Madison McFerrin)Our 12th festival edition wraps its indoor programming with a fabulous, celebratory musical finale. Headlining the evening is the transcendental <a href="https://indiansummerfest.ca/artists/madison-mcferrin/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Madison McFerrin</a>, who comes in from Brooklyn. Her critically acclaimed a cappella EP series, Finding Foundations, led Questlove to dub her sound “soul-cappella.” After making her debut at SXSW, she has mesmerized crowds on her US and European tours. This summer, she is also the curator and host of Summer Fridays at Brooklyn Bridge Park, bringing people together to “release, restore, and rejoice.” She brings that spirit to ISF with her powerful one-woman show. This is her first-ever Vancouver appearance! Opening for Madison (and co-curator of this night of music) is long-time festival favourite <a href="https://indiansummerfest.ca/artists/ruby-singh/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ruby Singh</a> with his kraKIN project, a &#x27;More-Than-Human Hip Hop Collaboration’ featuring birds, frogs, and the marine soundscapes of Desolation Sound. The night closes out with a proper dance party featuring the one and only <a href="https://indiansummerfest.ca/artists/dj-kookum/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">DJ Kookum</a> joining forces with ISF favourite DJs <a href="https://indiansummerfest.ca/artists/lil-india-2/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lil India</a>. All of this is enhanced by the visual sorcery of the digital magicians at the Chimerik Collective. This will be a party to be at, and to remember! FAQsWhich type of ticket should I purchase?All ISF2022 events offer subsidized tickets for individuals facing financial barriers in accessing arts programming (subject to availability).Ask yourself:<ul><li>Are you and your family homeowners or landowners?</li><li>Have you attended private education, or have an advanced degree?</li><li>Can you easily access and afford healthcare services?</li><li>Do you have no debt and/or have disposable income?</li></ul>If your answers were all ‘Yes’ please consider the Pay It Forward Admission price point.
