NSCSW Connections: Communities of Practice
Date and time
Location
Online event
NSCSW member consultation to develop new ways for members to connect and share best practices, common interests and new ideas.
About this event
Communities of practice are wonderful opportunities for like-minded practitioners, or professionals engaged in similar areas of practice, to be able to gather together and share ideas and best practices. It is an opportunity for networking, fellowship, resource sharing, and advocacy, and can also help reduce burnout by reminding us that we are not alone, but rather part of a larger whole.
The NSCSW Connections Committee is hosting our first Communities of Practice Lunch, that we hope will be the start of a quarterly lunch time virtual gathering where we can come together and reconnect with one another. We will meet together briefly to learn more about what communities of practice are, then break up into small groups to discuss, and then hopefully discuss our shared interest in creating such opportunities in the future.
Here are a few of the communities of practice areas suggested. If there are others that you are interested in hosting, please let us know:
- Child welfare (frontline only)
- Mental health (frontline only)
- Leadership
- Housing insecurity/homelessness
- Schools/Education
- Medical social work/geriatric/palliative care and hospice
- Justice/IPV/GBV/DV/violence
- Private practice
- Queer or BIPOC/racialized practitioners
- Acadian & French speaking practitioners
