Great Fundy Coastal CleanupLocation: Bliss Island Nature PreserveMeeting Location: Blacks HarbourDate: August 20th, 2022Rain date: August 21st, 2022Time: 8:00am - 3:00pmCost: FreeLeader: Nature Trust of New Brunswick StaffRegistration: OnlineNumber of Available Registrations: 17Description: Help restore the coastal ecosystem by participating in this cleanup at the Bliss Island Nature Preserve!The Bliss Island Nature Preserve is composed of island habitats containing tidal flats, rocky shores, and wetlands, in the Passamaquoddy Bay, New Brunswick.This preserve is part of the Whole Quoddy Region, a biological hotspot and proposed Marine Protected Area because it is a common feeding area for marine animals including the endangered North Atlantic right whale and harbour porpoise. Bliss Island is also right next to a Globally Significant Bird Area of the Quoddy Region due to the presence of congregatory species, colonial waterbird/seabird concentrations, and shorebird concentrations. At this cleanup, teams will work together to identify and remove debris along the shorelines of the preserve. Participants should be prepared for travel by boat, collecting garbage, and some bushwhacking. More details will be circulated to participants upon registration and in advance of the cleanup event. L'île Bliss se trouve également juste à côté d'une zone d'oiseaux d'importance mondiale de la région de Quoddy en raison de la présence d'espèces congrégatives, de concentrations d'oiseaux aquatiques/oiseaux de mer coloniaux et de concentrations d'oiseaux de rivage.Lors de ce nettoyage, les équipes travailleront ensemble pour identifier et enlever les débris le long des rives de la réserve. Les participants doivent être prêts à voyager en bateau, à ramasser des déchets et à faire un peu de brousse.De plus amples informations seront communiquées aux participants lors de leur inscription et avant l'événement de nettoyage.Il s'agit d'un événement en plein air, veuillez donc vous habiller en fonction de la météo.Ce qu'il faut apporter :- Vêtement de flottaison individuel (obligatoire)- Chaussures fermées ou bottes de pluie- Vêtements adaptés à la météo - De l'eau- Repas et collations- Écran solaire- Spray anti-moustiques et/ou filet anti-moustiques- Gants de travail (facultatif)- Appareil photo (facultatif)
