ERPsim Sustainability Challenge 2022

The mission of ERPsim Lab is to conduct research, development and transfer in the field of serious games in information technology. ERPsim Lab is the team behind ERPsim™ , a series of cutting-edge business simulations games designed to make learning SAP a more immersive and enjoyable experience. Over the past years, over 2 900 instructors in 350+ universities and business schools around the world have been trained to use these simulation games to teach integrated business and management concepts to professionals in fields such as Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Accounting and Finance, Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship.

Welcome to the first edition of the SAP S/4HANA ERPsim Sustainability Challenge.

<h2>All you need to know</h2><h3>The competition</h3><p>Teams will play the <strong>ERPsim Logistics Sustainability game</strong>.  Students will apply their business knowledge to make strategic decisions about their virtual company and input their plans to SAP S/4HANA using SAP Fiori. The ERPsim platform will simulate business activity based on these decisions.  Teams could use data analytics tools to understand the impact of their decisions and modify their business plan accordingly.​ </p><p>The virtual company with the highest company valuation at the end of the game is the winner.​</p><h3>Who can register?</h3><p>Your university must be located in either <strong>North America</strong> (USA, Canada) or <strong>DACH </strong>(Germany, Austria, Switzerland) regions to participate. </p><p>This competition is designed specifically for professors and students <strong>new to ERPsim</strong>, with ERPsim Lab providing the necessary support and preparation resources to play the game.</p><p>The competition is open to professors and students that have <strong>not played ERPsim before </strong>at institutions that are <strong>members or not </strong>of the <strong>SAP University Alliances </strong>.</p><p><strong>No prior experience </strong>with SAP S/4 HANA or ERPsim is required. No training will be provided on the event day. Two awareness and two practice sessions will be offered prior to the event. </p><p>Each university may register one team of <strong>3 to 5 students</strong> and <strong>one faculty coach</strong>.  The coach <strong>will register</strong> the team.  We will communicate with the team through the coach.</p><h3>Rules</h3><ul><li>Participation is <strong>FREE  </strong>(there is<strong> </strong>no cost to participate). Registration will close when teams are at capacity.</li><li>Each team can have a <strong>minimum of 3 students</strong> and a maximum of 5 students, plus one faculty coach.  </li><li>Students must be enrolled in an <strong>tertiary education </strong>program. Diverse teams are encouraged.</li><li>The <strong>faculty coach</strong> is responsible for registering the team and will be the <strong>main point of contact</strong> for all event logistics / communications.</li><li>Student details including full name and university email address are provided during registration.</li><li>Teams will play <strong>4 rounds </strong>of the ERPsim Logistics Sustainability Game. Each round will be of 10 virtual days of 60 seconds each. </li><li>Teams will be <strong>ranked </strong>based on their <strong>company valuation</strong>.</li><li>No cheating is allowed! All teams must always behave ethically. The organizers reserve the rights to disqualify teams not playing fairly.</li></ul><h3>Prizes</h3><ul><li><strong>Win  cool #SWAG </strong>SAP Community branded material!</li><li>Award certificates for the top 3 teams.</li></ul>

The experience results in increased student motivation to learn concepts at play, better engagement in the form of participation and discussions, higher satisfaction and changed attitude towards ERP, IBP and ABI topics.</p><p>In the ERPsim simulation environment, students apply business knowledge to make strategic decisions about their virtual company and input their plans into a real SAP S/4HANA system. While playing the game, the teams put in place a strategy and use analytics tools to understand the impact of their decisions and modify their business plan accordingly. </p>
