Join us on Tuesday, September 20th at 1pm (ADT) for Queering Sex Education with Marlee Liss, in collaboration with Mount Allison University!Most people&#x27;s experience of sex ed was limited to putting a banana on a condom and calling it a day. It&#x27;s all too common to hold shame and confusion around sexuality, which often results in: suppressing desires, violating boundaries, body image issues, internalized or perpetuated homophobia and rape culture. In this workshop Marlee will share her personal journey of healing after sexual violence and coming out as queer, and break down myths like: Can trauma cause queerness?Instead of letting silence and suppression persist around taboo topics, We create a safe and lighthearted environment to break through shame and claim empowerment. Students are supported in owning authentic desire &amp; boundaries, learning consent, unpacking compulsory heterosexuality becoming skillful in building safer, more caring communities.Marlee Liss is an author, restorative justice advocate, award-winning speaker, lesbian Jewish feminist and somatic coach focused on trauma-informed pleasure education. Marlee made history in the justice system when her sexual assault case became the 1st in North America to conclude with restorative justice through the courts. This means that she fought for her assailant to go to therapy instead of proceeding to criminal trial and eventually, they met in a transformative 8-hour circle. Since then, Marlee has shared her story worldwide - being featured on major media platforms like Forbes, Huff Post, Buzzfeed, Mel Robbins Show, and more. Additionally, her podcast The Sensual Revolution and signature coaching programs have supported thousands of women and non-binary folk worldwide in reclaiming embodied empowerment and self-love. Her story is currently being made into a documentary and in 2021, she co-founded the F*ck Comphet Support Club: 2SLGBTQIA+ Community in collaboration with Eva Bloom. As a speaker, Marlee has delivered presentations for: US Military SAPRO, the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence, Fordham School of Law, University of Toronto, the National Restorative Justice Symposium and more. Action Now Atlantic is a Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) funded initiative that works to promote a culture of consent on campus through education, advocacy, and community engagement. This event is taking place during the National Consent Awareness Week established by Possibility Seeds and High School Too.
