Location: Margaret (Coburn) Cameron Woods Nature Preserve, Keswick NBDate: October 29th, 2022Time: 8:30am start time, expect a full dayCost: FreeJoin volunteer Frank Camm and Nature Trust staff as we work together to plant 100 bur oak trees at the beautiful Margret (Coburn) Cameron Woods Nature Preserve!In 2021, hundreds of acorns were collected by Mr. Camm and volunteers. Volunteers grew the seeds in air pruning boxes in their backyards, with the overall goal of growing them to a sustainable size, to place on our nature preserves. This tree species is one of the last old-growth tree species present on the floodplains in NB, and their populations are continuously dwindling. Bur oaks are a valuable tree in many ways, due to their hardiness and ability to survive for hundreds of years, as well as their leaves and acorns offering a food source for many species. Come join us in restoring the land on this preserve while providing an ideal habitat for wildlife!This event can also count towards the Restoration Corps: Tree Planting certification of the Ambassador Program. Cette espèce d&#x27;arbre est l&#x27;une des dernières espèces d&#x27;arbres anciens présentes dans les plaines inondables du Nouveau-Brunswick et leurs populations ne cessent de diminuer. Le chêne à gros fruits est un arbre précieux à bien des égards, en raison de sa rusticité et de sa capacité à survivre pendant des centaines d&#x27;années, ainsi que de ses feuilles et de ses glands qui constituent une source de nourriture pour de nombreuses espèces.
