<p>Join GAC and the School of Fine Art and Music for a night of presentations, discussions and networking. We will be joined by four SOFAM Alumni who all have successful careers in art and music. Come out and begin to re-imagine what your career in the arts could look like. </p><p>The night will begin with 4 presentations, followed by a panel discussion (questions from the audiance are welcome!) and ending the night off with refreshments and a chance to connect with local artists and creatives. </p><p>SOFAM students and local emerging artists are highly encouraged to attend but the event welcomes other community members and artists to attend! </p><p></p><p>Contact programs@guelpharts.ca with any questions or concerns regarding the event. </p>

<h1>Our Panelists </h1><h3>Maya Ben David</h3><p>Maya Ben David (MBD) is a Toronto-based Anthropomorphic Airplane. Working in video, installation, and performance, she creates worlds and characters that aid her ongoing exploration of anthropomorphism, cosplay, and performative personas. Maya is currently trying to become famous on Youtube by combining the “normie” appeal of video essays with surrealist performance art.</p><h3>Alpha Kayondo</h3><p>Alpha Kayondo is a native of Guelph and University of Guelph music Alumni. This young artist commenced his music career in a guitar studio at the tender age of five.  Kayondo graduated from the University of Guelph’s music program, having been a proud tenor in the Marta McCarthy conducted Gryphon Singers for two seasons. Upon graduation, he scored a number of short projects. Some for Humber College students, another short film from a Toronto Film School graduate -- who also cast the up-and-coming artist in a lead role -- &quot;The Revolutionary&quot;, and the virtual-graduation intro for the University of Guelph. Kayondo continues to collaborate with his Alma Mater, other underground filmmakers, music producers, and fellow recording artists. Currently, the Guelph resident teaches voice, piano &amp; performance lessons at Jam School in the royal city. His dream? To be the first widely recognized African-Canadian film score composer.</p><h3>Linh Thai</h3><p>Yen Linh Thai (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator and muralist based in Mississauga. Her work explores the whimsical and is largely inspired by stories and storytelling. She strives to make art that exists between two and three dimensions. In recent years, Linh has expanded her practice to public art projects, creating artworks inspired by the communities they live in.</p><p>She has created artwork for the Art Gallery of Burlington, Peel Children’s Aid Foundation, High Park Zoo, and most recently the Art Gallery of Ontario. In 2021, she was awarded the MARTY (Mississauga Arts Award) in the Visual Arts – Emerging category. She holds a B.Sc (Honours) in Animal Biology &amp; Studio Art from the University of Guelph (2016).</p><h3>Emma Welch</h3><p>Emma Welch (b. 1993) is an artist living and working in Tkaronto/Toronto. She has presented her work at Hunt Gallery (Toronto), Galerie Nicolas Robert (Montreal), Namara Projects (Toronto), Erin Stump Projects (Toronto), Spacemaker ll (Toronto), and Egret Egress (Toronto). Her work is included in the collections of Scotiabank, The Royal Bank of Canada and several private collections. She holds a BAH in Studio Art from the University of Guelph. She is a co-founder and collective member of the plumb, an artist-run project space (Toronto).</p>
