Warehouse District ARP Walking Tour 1

The City of Lethbridge is hosting walking tours of the Warehouse District as we continue to progress on an Area Redevelopment Plan.

The Warehouse District is a predominately commercial and light industrial neighbourhood. Large parts of the district currently provide a variety of local businesses to community members. Recent redevelopment related to existing building improvements has been successful in the area, though redevelopment of increased scale has been limited due to infrastructure constraints. The mix of retail, restaurants, and offices, combined with recent investment by private businesses and developers shows there is great potential in the area.The City of Lethbridge is now undertaking an Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) to provide an overarching vision for the area as well as specific and targeted implementation strategies. This ARP initiative represents a chance to focus our attention and develop a new approach to urban placemaking that stimulates growth while incorporating principles of mixed-use development, walkability, and an interactive community.The City of Lethbridge invites you to join a walking tour of the Warehouse District. The walking tour route has been designed to introduce you to some of the key features that define the district today, and to encourage discussion and visioning about its future.Some of the topics explored during the walking tour will include:• Design of public space,• How people get around the area (both with and without wheels),• Landscaping and tree canopies,• Residential development, and• The points of transition between the Warehouse District and adjacent neighbourhoods.
