Be More Than A Bystander: Shifting Skilled Trades Workplace Culture in BC

BC Centre for Women in the Trades (BCCWITT)is working to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive skilled trades industry, where all feel welcome, healthy, respected, and safe.We are a partnership led by diverse tradespeople, along with industry and labour representatives. We are committed to removing barriers faced by equity priority people, including Indigenous people, people of colour, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ people, and women, to increase their participation in the trades and promote healthier environments in workplaces and training institutions for all.BCCWITT provides connection, funding, resources and supports for equity priority tradespeople across the province. We offer programs, tools, and resources to individuals and organizations that support the attraction, retention, and advancement of equity priority people in skilled trades careers. The BC Centre for Women in the Trades

This 90-minute workshop is an introductory training into ending bullying, harassment and violence in workplaces in the skilled trades.

<a href="https://www.bccwitt.ca" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">B﻿C Centre for Women in the Trades (BCCWITT)</a> and the <a href="https://www.itabc.ca/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Industry Training Authority BC (ITA)</a> are co-hosting this virtual Be More Than A Bystander workshop.Be More Than A Bystander is a training and educational program to support organizational and cultural shifts towards more inclusive, safer and respectful workplaces. This 90-minute workshop equips participants with practical tools and strategies to prevent, and intervene in gender-based and other forms of bullying, harassment and violence in workplaces in the skilled trades industry.

The learning outcomes of this workshop are:<ul><li>Understand contexts of bullying, harassment and violence;</li><li>Learn different intervention tools; and</li><li>Build skills through engaging in workplace scenarios.</li></ul>

This workshop is geared towards those who: <ul><li>Identify as man;</li><li>Are an apprentice, journeyperson, employer sponsor or other workers in the skilled trades industry;</li><li>Are employed in or the owner of a small company (between 2-50 employees); and</li><li>Live or work in British Columbia.</li></ul>
