Fondée en 1998, la Coalition pour la diversité des expressions culturelles est un organisme pan canadien qui regroupe plus de 50 organisations représentant toute la chaîne de la culture, de la création à la production, dans les secteurs du livre, du cinéma, de la télévision, des nouveaux médias, de la musique et des arts d’interprétation. Préoccupé tout autant par la santé économique des industries culturelles que par la vitalité de la création culturelle, le regroupement s’intéresse plus particulièrement au traitement de la culture dans les traités de commerce et à l’impact de l’environnement numérique sur la diversité des expressions culturelles.Founded in 1998, the Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions is a pan-Canadian organization with more then 50 associations representing the entire cultural chain, from creation to production, in the book, film, television, new Medias, music and performing arts sectors. Concerned by the economic health of cultural industries as well as by the vitality of cultural creation, the association is particularly interested in the treatment of culture in trade treaties and the impact of the digital environment on the diversity of cultural expressions.

The event is organized in partnership with <a href="https://www.alai.ca/en/accueil" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">ALAI Canada</a>.The creative industries request fair, appropriate, proportional, and transparent remuneration of authors and creators. That will only be possible if reliable, current, exhaustive, and interoperable rights data are accessible in real-time. The presentation by Philippe Rixhon will cover the Open Rights Data Framework proposed in the recent &quot;<a href="https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/library/study-copyright-and-new-technologies" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Study on Copyright and New Technologies</a>&quot; published by the European Commission, and the Open Rights Data Exchange developed with the support of the Estonian Government.About Philippe RixhonPhilippe Rixhon works on digital media rights with creative enterprises, service providers, trade associations, law firms and government agencies. As an innovation trailblazer, he assembles and leads prestigious multi-disciplinary teams to initiate, create and operate ground-breaking solutions.Managing Director of Philippe Rixhon Associates, he co-authored the study on Copyright and New Technologies published by the European Commission in March 2022. Philippe is the CEO of Digiciti, the company building an Open Rights Data Exchange. He is also an Industry Associate at the Centre for Blockchain Technologies (University College London), member of the Board of Advisors at the ISCC Foundation (International Standard Content Code), and an expert at ISO working on NFTs and smart contracts.Philippe hold degrees in engineering, management, theatre directing, and philosophy.
