Vancouver Airspace Change Public Consultation

NAV CANADA is proposing airspace enhancements around Vancouver Airport (YVR) in areas of Metro Vancouver and southern Vancouver Island. Some residents may observe changes to air traffic patterns, so NAV CANADA is undertaking public consultation.

This is a &quot;drop-in&quot; open house style event with no pre-registration required to attend. There will not be a large group presentation at a set time; representatives from NAV CANADA and YVR will be available throughout the entire event period to provide information and answer questions. Pre-registration is optional in case you would like to receive updates about the event.The information presented will be tailored to residents of New Westminster, North Surrey, and North Delta. If you would prefer to attend a more general, non-community-specific session, please browse the list of events and register for an alternate session.

<a href="https://navcanada.ca" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NAV CANADA</a>, in close collaboration with the <a href="https://yvr.ca/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Vancouver Airport Authority (YVR)</a>, is undertaking public consultation in support of proposed airspace enhancements around Vancouver International Airport in areas of Metro Vancouver and southern Vancouver Island. The proposed changes will introduce new, modern arrival procedures at YVR known as Required Navigation Performance Authorization Required (RNP AR) and make changes to associated arrival procedures and routes.RNP AR provides the opportunity to design shorter, more direct routes, enabling aircraft to turn towards the airport sooner. These procedures will support environmental sustainability efforts by reducing greenhouse gases and the overflight of residential areas where practicable.If implemented, some residents may observe changes to air traffic patterns. As a result, NAV CANADA is undertaking public consultation to ensure that communities and businesses can learn about the proposal and provide feedback.This information session will provide residents the opportunity to learn about the proposed changes how to provide their input. NAV CANADA will provide information about the proposed changes and answer questions following the presentation. The public consultation will run from December 6, 2022, until February 3, 2023.
