I've never played baseball before. Can I still play?

5 Tool Baseball is designed for those who have a little baseball knowledge and are looking to learn more about the game.  If you have never played before, check out our RBI Baseball program to get started!

Question 2

I have played baseball for a few seasons. Is this the right program for me?

Accepted Answer

Well, it depends. 5 Tool is about building the core fundamentals of the game for those who have some experience but are just starting their baseball journey. We'll be focusing on gameplay, improving fundamental skills and deepening an understanding of the sport, while keeping it fun and inclusive.

Question 3

Do I need to buy some new equipment before the program begins?

Accepted Answer

No way! Because of our great partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Jays Care Foundation, we have all the equipment you'll need to get in the game. If you don't have a glove, you can borrow one of ours, and we have bats, balls and everything you'll need to start knocking them out of the park

Question 4

Just curious, where are we going to play?

Accepted Answer

We're taking our game right to the diamond! You can find us on Field 2 at Lancaster Park in St Catharines.  It's a well maintained diamond with some shade and accessible washrooms.  We think it will be a great place to work on our game.

Question 5

I don't want to sign up in advance, can I register on the first day?

Accepted Answer

Space is limited in this program so we strongly encourage you to register in advance in order to secure your spot as we do anticipate a full house.  Also, the on-site staff will not have the capacity to both verify existing registrations and create new ones at the same time so please sign up early.

Question 6

I have registered but should I arrive early to make sure I have my spot?

Accepted Answer

The program starts at 2:00pm but we'll be at the park beforehand to get things ready, so we would ask that you do not arrive early. If you have registered successfully, your entry has been confirmed by email. We'll get started at 2:00pm, verify your registration and get you out in the field.

Question 7

My ride home can't get there until 4:30pm or so. Can I wait in the program space until they arrive?

Accepted Answer

The program ends at 4:00pm so we’ll need a few minutes after to clean up the space. But we ask participants to please make sure that you have a safe way home and can be picked up promptly at 4:00pm so we can get packed up and have the space ready for the next group.

Question 8

Why do you need so much information about me?

Accepted Answer

We want to make sure everyone is safe and has a good time, and to do that we need to know who's coming to hang out with us. We need contact information for a parent or guardian so we can contact someone should the need arise. A parent email address helps us relay information about program changes.

Question 9

Is there anything else I should bring with me?

Accepted Answer

Baseball is designed to be played outside so make sure to bring all of the things you'll need to spend 2 hours outdoors. Wear comfortable clothing and running shoes. Make sure to bring a hat, sunscreen and a big bottle of water. And if you are bringing snacks, please make sure they are nut free.
