Join the OGCA as it partners with the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) as we launch this inaugural event.

The goal of this new OGCA event is to celebrate Women in Construction (WIC) and recognize the yet untapped potential of women in the construction sector. Women make up roughly 50% of the population in Ontario, and yet to date, we have only attracted a small percentage of women into construction as a career destination.The future is bright for women wanting to enter this dynamic field, and we want to provide our members with a platform to showcase their successful strategies and collaborations that have led to an uptake of women in construction.

This years event is being held at Universal EventSpace located on the North-West corner of Hwy 27 &amp; 7, in Studio 1. Agenda

Alexia MacLeod is the Co-owner and Chief Operating Officer of Somerville Construction, a boutique General Contracting and Project Management firm located in Toronto, established in 1986. She joined the firm in 2004 and quickly began wearing many hats for the company, responsible for the day-to-day operations, to the financial reporting and budgeting. In 2016, Alexia partnered with her husband David and purchased the company from the previous owner Ian Somerville.

As vice president and district manager of PCL Constructors Canada Inc. (Toronto), Monique Buckberger is dedicated to driving value for clients by fostering mutually beneficial partnerships that lead to success. With more than 27 years of experience in the construction industry, Monique provides both high-level oversight and boots-on-the-ground expertise with extensive experience in all sectors. Monique, who started her career as a field engineer, has held senior leadership roles in several PCL districts, including Regina, BC Region and Winnipeg, which has been key in developing broad-based construction knowledge in buildings, civil and special projects work.

Charmaine Williams was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2022 provincial election. She represents the riding of Brampton Centre as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. She is currently the Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity and is the first Black woman to be appointed to a PC Cabinet.

Offering all-inclusive supply, installation and emergency response service for the road and highway construction industry, for private, public and P3 customers.

Emma Donnelly currently serves as the Director of Membership & Sponsorship on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) in addition to her full-time position as a Commercial Account Executive for Carma Corp. Five years ago, Emma discovered her passion for being a part of building projects that make a lasting impact to neighborhoods for future generations and has been working in the construction industry ever since.

Jamie is a passionate executive leader (and a third-generation road builder) in the roadside safety industry, having gained more than 25 years’ experience in leading, developing, and empowering high-performance teams. During this time, she has been specialized in guiderail, barrier wall, and highway safety product installation. Through her work with OGRA (Ontario Guide Rail Association) and the ORSIC (Ontario Road Side Safety Coalition), Jamie has long advocated for the continued maintenance and upgrading of road safety infrastructure to ensure Ontario roads and highways continue to be the safest in North America.

Luana Buratynski is an advocate and supporter for promoting women within the construction industry. She is the current standing President for CAWIC and has also been re-elected as standing Board of Director since 2017. Completing her first three years as the CAWIC Special Events Director, and in 2019 appointed as President, Luana has planned and executed several successful events for the benefit of CAWIC through the recruitment of new members, formed functional working committees, sourced sponsors and CAWIC volunteers and allowed for increased funding to CAWIC’s renowned Bursary Program.

Amanda graduated from the University of Alberta in 2011 and immediately came to work at Milwaukee Tool. Amanda started as a field sales representative covering the Home Depot stores on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. After a few years on the island, she was promoted to a role at our head office in Markham Ontario. Since moving to Ontario in 2013, Amanda has held positions as The Field Sales Coordinator, Hardware-Territory Rep, Jobsite Solutions-End User Rep, National Account Rep, Hardware-Strategic Account Manager, and now Jobsite Solutions- National Marketing Manager. Throughout her 12 years with Milwaukee Tool, she has had the pleasure and honour of working with, hiring, mentoring, and empowering numerous young women in the organization. Outside of work she goes by a different name, Mom. Amanda and her husband live in Burlington with their son Rhett (18months old) and jack russell terrier Katie.

A self-described creative self-starter, Kimberly (Kim) Corlett has spent the last 7 years in the AEC industry devising creative and collaborative solutions to deliver and manage projects. Kim has developed a unique perspective when it comes to telling authentic stories influenced by her field observation. In her previous role as Field Operations Manager, she was known for wearing many hats. From optimizing the dialogue between clients and internal teams, leading the company to record-breaking revenues, to completing more than 15 million square feet of projects across North America. Now as Procore's Field Marketing Manager of Canada, her expertise in construction, designing and laser scanning technology will now serve to drive demand and growth, establishing Procore as the construction platform choice.
