“Divide and conquer” has been the guiding principle of colonizing forces and colonial governments since the West’s global exploration and extraction began, and it continues to be a core strategy driving capitalism. Today, despite the globalization and technological advancements that have made exploring the world easier, we seem more divided than ever—divided from each other, from nature, and even from ourselves.In this exhibit we explore ways in which we can mend those relationships, bring ourselves together, see the good in each other, and rediscover our own humanity. We hope that this leads us to unite and liberate, to stand in solidarity with marginalized communities, and to relocate humanity’s relationship with nature from that of extractionism to one of stewardship.For those attending in-person, this event will take place at the Crossroads Gallery (HNES 283) in the Health, Nursing, and Environmental Studies building at York University.
