A presentation on the Indigenous Food Plant Demonstration Garden in Summerland, BC.

<p>The Indigenous Food Plant Demonstration Garden in Summerland, BC is located at the Summerland Research and Development Centre, a federal government research and development facility.  By incorporating native plant guilds and multiple plant regimes to generate numerous ecosystem types, the garden supports local wildlife. In the spirit of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, the garden is also revitalizing food plants that have traditional significance to local Indigenous communities. With support from Indigenous staff, the garden, as it grows, will be used to teach students, employees and the public about the importance of these plants in the local ecosystem and to Indigenous communities.  The demonstration garden has created momentum in the region and across the country at other federal research centres to create gardens to grow culturally important native species. </p>
