Of all of the long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, misinformation is the most tenacious—and the one we least understand. While ‘infodemics’ are a predictable side effect of every major epidemic and pandemic since at least the 19th century, we still lack a playbook for blunting their force when they emerge. This session will explore how literary nonfiction is ideally positioned as an art form to push back against misinformation—be it scientific, racial, financial, or even apocalyptic.In this session, Dan Werb is joined by authors <a href="https://www.harleyrustad.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Harley Rustad </a>and <a href="https://www.simonandschuster.com/authors/Debra-Thompson/183187612" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Debra Thompson</a> for a conversation about how literary nonfiction is ideally positioned as an art form to push back against misinformation—be it scientific, racial, financial or even apocalyptic. This program is hosted by <a href="https://danwerb.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dan Werb</a>, TPL&#x27;s Spring 2023 Literary Nonfiction Writer in Residence at Toronto Reference Library. Dan is an award-winning writer, epidemiologist and the author of two books of literary nonfiction.This event is part of TPL&#x27;s <a href="https://www.torontopubliclibrary.ca/writer-in-residence/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Writer in Residence</a> program.
