The East Asian and Pacific Legal Clinic (EAPLC) is a registered not-for-profit/NGO based in Toronto, Canada, with innovative ways of promoting access to justice (A2J) worldwide. The EAPLC is registered with the United Nation&#x27;s ECOSOC, and has taken various pledges with the United Nations, as well as other organizations, including Human Rights Pledge, SDG17, Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), UNICEF and more.In recognition of the importance of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and conflict management, and the important role youths and women play in it, EAPLC is offering a multi-day professional development and networking conference where participants will learn the foundations of mediation, ADR and how it is used in climate change conflicts, among other internationally-impacted concerns. This foundation mediation conference/course is designed and developed following, or exceeding the accreditation requirements of both the International Mediation Institute (IMI) and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada (ADRIC). Participants who wish to pursue a professional designation in mediation may attend an accelerated program upon completion of this conference.By the end of this conference, participants should have an understanding of what mediation is, when it is used, how the pandemic has changed the ADR dynamic, what Online Dispute Resolution is, how the profession is regulated, if any, types of international and local ADR organizations and how they differ, which organization they should join, when and how to start a business as a mediator, and much more!A certificate of completion will be issued.Highlight: Participants will receive one-on-one coaching on when and how to start a business in mediation, how to find clients (local and international), how to safely use online dispute resolution (ODR), and more.L﻿ocation: In-person (virtual attendance available as well).Food and beverages: Light lunch, refreshments and beverages may be arranged for in-person participants.Accommodation is not included. Participant shall make prior accommodation arrangements. There are hotels nearby the conference location, and cost about $94-$135 per night. Please contact us if you need assistance in locating accommodation. International participants: Invitation letter can be provided to assist with your visitor visa application. We will be able to help a limited number of participants in preparing their visitor/business visa application.
