EN:The Spur Change program is a 5-year initiative of the Inter-Council Network (ICN), funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), aiming to increase the effectiveness of SMOs to deliver sustainable results in support of the Feminist International Assistance Policy and the Sustainable Development Goals; support educators in engaging school communities on global issues; and foster youth action on the Sustainable Development Goals. This workshop will gather together organizations for an in-person day of peer learning, reflection and discussion. This one day event will include discussions of: trends and opportunities in fundraising, equity-centred fundraising principles and provide the opportunity for guided peer feedback on draft fundraising strategies.📚 L﻿earning OutcomesThe goal of this workshop is to build participants’ knowledge of and capacity to effectively and ethically respond to critical trends and approaches in fundraising strategies, including the integration of equity-centred fundraising principles. This workshop will complement the online Units 1-3 of the Building Equity training series offered by Spur Change, which incorporates Change the Game Academy and Canadian contextual information. <a href="https://bit.ly/3ypL1Gf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">All materials from past units are available online, for free and without registration, here.</a>By the end of the session, you’ll have a better understanding of how to:<ul><li>Evaluate sample fundraising strategies to identify critical ethical and success elements; </li><li>Examine and adjust your strategies and practices to emerging issues, trends, and peer feedback;</li><li>Integrate equity-centred fundraising principles and practices into your strategies and practices;</li><li>Identify next steps and resources to support execution of your strategy.</li></ul>Do note: it is not mandatory to have completed the online Units 1-3 to attend this workshop, though it is highly recommended. Provided you arrive at the workshop with a fundraising strategy in hand (either based on <a href="https://bit.ly/3LzL49X" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">the provided template</a> or your own format), you will leave the workshop with the beginnings of a revised and well-equipped fundraising plan for your organization.⏰ Workshop Details<ul><li>May 24 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at the<a href="https://socialinnovation.org/space/locations/csi-spadina/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> Suite 101 of the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI) Spadina</a> - 192 Spadina Ave. Toronto, ON M5T 2C2 ;</li><li>1-day workshop facilitated by <a href="https://www.jnclarke.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">JN Clarke Consulting</a> and centered on peer discussion. The goal of the Building Equity training series is to build capacity and confidence to develop a diversified, ethical, and equity-centred fundraising and resource mobilization strategy. Building off of the work of <a href="https://www.changethegameacademy.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Change the Game Academy,</a> this training will also include Canadian specific content tailored for small and medium organizations working in international cooperation. The training series includes:<ul><li>A mix of online, self-paced units with deeper dive synchronous zoom sessions (Units 1-3)</li><li>Strategic in person workshops across Canada in late Spring 2023 (Unit 4)</li><li>Coaching calls for specific follow up questions on your resource mobilization strategy (Unit 4)</li><li>All course materials have been made available as self-paced online learning through the Spur Change Resource Library. </li></ul>Want to learn more about the previous units? About the content creators<a href="https://www.changethegameacademy.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Change the Game Academy </a>aims to change the ‘rules’ of the development game: transferring power to communities and enabling them to shape their own future. Many civil society organizations in the Global South depend on foreign funding to do their work, which makes them vulnerable and puts them at risk of focusing on donor-driven priorities. Change the Game Academy aims to end this dependency by supporting autonomous local organisations to strengthen their fundraising capacity. They offer e-learning, in-person classroom courses, and individual coaching. Change the Game Academy was initiated by Wilde Ganzen Foundation and co-created together with CESE (Brazil), the Kenya Community Development Foundation (Kenya) and Smile Foundation (India).
