Canada's first National Horticulture Industry and Invasive Species Conference

Calling all growers, landscapers, retailers, master gardeners, farmers, fruit and vegetable grower, government agencies, environmental organizations, Indigenous groups, among others to join us at the first national Horticulture and Invasive Species Conference in Canada.This event aims to connect industry, environmental organizations, Indigenous communities, and government to share key information and inform national and regional approaches to address invasive species impacting horticulture (ornamental and fruits and vegetables) to protect Canada’s habitats and communities in the face of a changing climate. This event will:<ul><li><ul><li>Bring together partners from all parts of the horticulture industry that can play a part in preventing horticulture pathways of spread.</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li><ul><li>Provide an opportunity to educate, increase awareness, share knowledge.</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li><ul><li>Identify how we could make use of the current system, create clarity around roles in the system of horticulture.</li></ul></li></ul>Agenda:Hear from Canadian and internationally accomplished speakers including the World Wildlife Fund, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Canadian Nursery Landscape Association, Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, Beyond Attitude Consulting, Morton Arboretum, and others on topics including:<ul><li><ul><li>Emerging issues: Hear from experts in the field from Canada and abroad on emerging issues in horticulture, including emerging pathways of spread pathways.</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li><ul><li>Tools in the toolbox: What tools exist in Canada to stop the spread of invasive species coming through the horticulture pathway, what tools exist to support Industry on this issue and what tools are still needed.</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li><ul><li>All-hands-on-deck: Sharing national, provincial/territorial, municipal and NGO awareness and training programs/campaigns across Canada on promoting ‘plant wise’ behaviours, and providing tools regarding invasive species ID, prevention, and management.</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li><ul><li>What is working in Canada and abroad: Hear from leaders in the Industry across Canada and beyond on what is working to stop the spread of invasive species in the horticulture industry.</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li><ul><li>What more is needed: Hear from experts on what gaps still exist in addressing this issue, within Industry, government, and education.</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li><ul><li>Next Steps: Identifying calls to action and determining what success looks like.</li></ul></li></ul>Full agenda can be found <a href="https://canadainvasives.ca/event-national-horticulture-invasive-species-conference/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">HERE</a>Partnership Packages:Support this event at various partnership levels.Learn more about partnership opportunities for this event: <a href="https://canadainvasives.ca/event-national-horticulture-invasive-species-conference/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://canadainvasives.ca/event-national-horticulture-invasive-species-conference/</a>Questions?
