CARFAC Alberta is a non-profit, Provincial Arts Service Organization (PASO) and the provincial affiliate for CARFAC National. Our mission is to promote the visual arts in Alberta and assist Alberta artists, providing a communication hub between members of the visual arts community and the general public.  Additionally, it is the goal ofCARFACAlbertato provide Alberta artists with current, vital information on arts opportunities locally, regionally, provincially, nationally and internationally to ensure that they are able to actively and knowledgeably participate in the broader visual arts world.

Exploring cross-disciplinary strategies to foster engaging public art.

The cities we live in shape our experiences. Due to its inclusiveness, public art provides an ideal platform for artists to connect with diverse audiences. When it diverges from conventional ideas and adopts a speculative and provocative role, it can prompt public awareness and inquiry. In my presentation and through examples, I will explore the potential to utilize the language of design for artists to pose questions, elicit reactions, and inspire the public.Biography: Mohsen Ahi AndyAs a multidisciplinary artist with a BDes and MDes in industrial design and an MFA in studio art, Mohsen Ahi Andy works across two primary modes of artistic production. My studio practices typically evolve through experimentation and research of material and ideas, while my outdoor projects and site-specific sculptures are constructed using a specific and deliberate design process. Since 2022, I have been working in the curatorial team at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie.
