These sessions will highlight the endless potential of people with Down syndrome and explore meaningful ways for families, educators, employers, and community members to offer support.Through expert-led presentations, firsthand experiences, and practical insights, we aim to break down barriers, challenge perceptions, and create opportunities for inclusion. Whether you’re a parent, professional, or ally, these events will provide valuable knowledge and actionable strategies to help foster a more inclusive society.Let’s come together to learn, connect, and continue building a community where individuals with Down syndrome can thrive!

Join us for Uniquely Me 2023 - the 11th Annual Fundraiser in Support of the Edmonton Down Syndrome Society

The Edmonton Down Syndrome Society (EDSS) is a charitable organization that serves families and people with Down syndrome for over 28 years. Our Society supports people born with Down syndrome and their families through programming, information, resources and connecting members with one another. In addition to serving families in Edmonton, our reach extends from Red Deer to Lloydminster, Grande Prairie and the Northwest Territories. Uniquely Me, presented by Ledcor Group and hosted by Mike Chalut and Tyler Playford is on October 5, 2023. We will be bringing to the MacEwan Triffo Theatre stage in Allard Hall, for the 11th Annual Uniquely Me, an evening of music, entertainment, fashion and a full-scale celebration that will highlight the many talents of our participants with Down syndrome and collaborations with local artists. This year&#x27;s event will feature a special performance by Platinum recording artist/songwriter and 4x Juno winner, Simone Denny! The friends and participants with Ds will be the stars of the show and we are so excited to bring this to the big stage. If you missed them last year, you won&#x27;t want to this time - Tyler and Mike are non-stop energy as our event hosts. Bring your enthusiasm and your generosity - bid up the silent and live auctions. And if Tyler is starting the bidding, you know he&#x27;s out to raise some funds! Of course, there will be our EDSS models in fashion - but there will be some other surprises too.Proceeds from this event will support the Joey Moss Literacy Centre for Excellence in all the work we do for our families including delivering vital therapies like speech language, behaviour, occupational and physiotherapy, adult day programs, reading programs, preschool group-play activities, sports and leisure events, life-learning skills, coaching and mentoring. We also have a lot of fun!
