Fondée en 1906, La Guilde est un organisme à but non lucratif oeuvrant à la conservation, à la promotion et à la sensibilisation de l’art Inuit, de l’art des Premières Nations, de l’art des Métis et des métiers d’art du Canada. En plus de son exposition permanente — qui présente des objets de sa collection — La Guilde a une programmation dynamique d’expositions temporaires et d’activités culturelles, des programmes éducatifs et des archives d'une richesse historique remarquable. La Guilde est aussi une galerie d’art ayant des œuvres d’artistes établis et émergents, disponibles pour l'acquisition._____________Founded in 1906, La Guilde is a non-profit organization that aims to preserve, promote, and increase awareness of Inuit art, First Nations art, Métis art, and Fine Crafts from Canada. In addition to its permanent exhibition—which presents objects from its collection—La Guilde has a dynamic programming of temporary exhibitions and cultural activities, educational programs, and archives of remarkable historical wealth. La Guilde is also an art gallery with works by established and emerging artists, available for acquisition.

La Guilde, en partenariat avec TERRES EN VUES, vous invite à un double vernissage célébrant le travail de Luke Parnell et d’Alan Syliboy. Du 20 juillet au 10 septembre, venez vous immerger dans des univers colorés dont les récits sauront vous transporter !Dans l’exposition » Starlight », l'artiste Nisga'a et Haida Luke Parnell explore les liens entre les histoires orales et les pratiques artistiques autochtones de la Côte Nord-Ouest avec un intérêt particulier pour les récits abordant la transformation. Exploitant le travail du bois, la sérigraphie, la performance ou encore la vidéo, il utilise ses oeuvres comme véhicule narratif, évoquant régulièrement des aspects profondément personnels.Présenté dans le cadre du Festival international Présence autochtone, l’exposition « Les esprits dans la forêt » de l’artiste Mi’kmaw Alan Silyboy met de l’avant un vocabulaire artistique unique créé à partir des traditions autochtones des pétroglyphes Mi’kmaq. Explorant les thèmes de la famille, de la spiritualité, de l’épreuve et de la force, celui-ci utilise la superposition de symboles et de marques afin de créer de la profondeur et de la texture dans ses oeuvres. From July 20 to September 10, come immerse yourself in colourful worlds whose tales will sweep you away!In the exhibition “Starlight”, Nisga'a and Haida artist Luke Parnell delves into the relationship between oral histories and Indigenous artistic practices on the Northwest Coast, particularly interested in exploring narratives of transformation. Using woodworking, silkscreening, performance or even video, his work is a vehicle for storytelling, regularly evoking deeply personal facets.As part of the International First Peoples’ Festival, Mi’kmaw artist Alan Syliboy’s exhibition "There are Spirits in the Forest” highlights his own artistic vocabulary created from Indigenous Mi’kmaq petroglyph tradition. Exploring themes of family, spirituality, struggle and strength, he uses the layering of symbols and markmaking to create depth and texture in his works.
