How often were we asked as kids: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, alluding to the mindset that we are only valued by our profession and our continual contribution to an unjust capitalist system that keeps us burned out, stuck and exhausted. What if we were asked: “How do you want to be?”.Mindsets, narratives and values around work and productivity are often formed by the external cultural narrative. We learn how to be good students, which directly translates to how to become a good worker. We learn the values of capitalism and how to attain (more gold stars, more money, more praise, more acclaim) through working hard. We are told these things will make us happy, when really the system sets us up to feel like we will never be good enough or have enough.We learn how to be humans “doing”, always defining ourselves by our work, our investments and schedules. What if we could shift from “human doing” to “human being”?W﻿e created this workshop as a place to divest from productivity + hustle culture, uncover your core values and connect with the spirit of play. This is a 2-hour therapeutic workshop, running from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, July 11 2023.* Please read through the group description and policies before registering.<h3>WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION</h3>Our main focus is to give you a space to exist outside of hustle culture. Where you don&#x27;t have to be in achievement mode. We will all learn more about ourselves, but there are no expectations for how you show up. The workshop offers psychoeducation, art therapy and community engagement.We will:<ul><li>increase awareness of inner narratives surrounding productivity, work and achievement and how they relate to broader cultural themes</li><li>explore effects of capitalism and colonialism on sense of self</li><li>practice shedding oppressive narratives that we carry with us</li><li>uncover and connect with core values through right-brain creative + playful interventions (aka, we&#x27;re making friendship bracelets y&#x27;all!)</li><li>p﻿rocess individually and as a group</li></ul>

<h3>DETAILS</h3>This workshop is facilitated by registered clinical counsellor + art therapist <a href="https://www.intrinsic-therapy.com/elspeth" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Elspeth Robertson</a> and registered clinical counsellor <a href="https://www.ashleigheatoncounselling.com/about" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ashleigh Eaton</a>. This is a 2-hour therapeutic workshop, running from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, July 11 2023.<a href="https://www.intrinsic-therapy.com/studio" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The art studio</a> is located in a beautiful heritage building in downtown Vancouver, nearby transit hubs. The building has 3 steps at the entrance and unfortunately is not wheelchair accessible. YOUR INVESTMENT<ul><li>The group cost is $75. Save $15 with early bird tickets until July 4! </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Y﻿our investment includes: </li><li>2﻿ hours of counselling (combined talk therapy &amp; art therapy)</li><li>techniques to prevent burnout and sustain health and wellness</li><li>n﻿ew connections and camaraderie with rad anti-oppressive folks </li><li>guidance and facilitation from two top-notch therapists</li><li>personalized art to take home </li></ul></ul>

<h3>POLICIES</h3><ul><li>Registration is open to adults (18+) of any gender.</li><li>This workshop is limited to 6 participants. </li><li>As this is an in-person event, punctuality is appreciated. Participants are encouraged to arrive 5-10 minutes early to settle in before the workshop starts. </li></ul>Refunds &amp; Cancellations<li>If you need to cancel your registration, you must do so within 2 DAYS OF THE workshop to receive a refund.</li><li>H﻿ate speech, harassment and/or destruction of property will not be tolerated. If any of these occur, you will be asked to leave and no refund will be given. </li>
