His indelible songs - classics like “Sundown,” “If You Could Read My Mind,” and “The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald” are now part of the national cultural fabric. Dr. Mike Daley Presents: The Gordon Lightfoot Story is a new lecture-concert celebrating his life and music, featuring Mike on guitar and vocals, Carter Lancaster (Gordon Lightfoot guitarist 2011-2023) on lead guitar, Jill Daley on piano and violin and Greg Wyard on bass and vocals. You&#x27;ll learn about the fascinating life of Gordon Lightfoot, from his Orillia upbringing to his early years on the Toronto folk scene, his rise to stardom, and his long string of hit records. The latest in a successful monthly series that has included lecture-concerts on Simon and Garfunkel and Leonard Cohen, The Gordon Lightfoot Story is a must-see for any music fan.Dr. Mike Daley is a musician and music historian known across the GTA for his highly entertaining and informative talks on popular music. Carter Lancaster is a respected session and live guitarist who was Gordon Lightfoot&#x27;s lead player from 2011 until Lightfoot&#x27;s death in 2023. Jill Daley is a full-time musician at Canada&#x27;s National Ballet School and frequent collaborator with Mike on lecture-concert events. Greg Wyard is an accomplished bassist and songwriter who also happens to be Toronto&#x27;s preeminent pub musician. General admission t﻿ickets are $28.00 plus HST and fees. These events usually sell out, but if tickets are available at the door, they will be $40.00, cash only. Doors open at 2:30.
