Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) is an independent non-profit public art gallery committed to the acquisition, presentation, interpretation and dissemination of contemporary art for the benefit of the local arts community. Its programs explore a variety of issues and include exhibitions, talks, lectures, tours and publications. OAG has a growing permanent collection of historical and contemporary works associated with the region. It also houses the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art, which consists of more than 1,600 works of art assembled by Ottawa collectors O.J. and Isobel Firestone, who acquired the works from the early 1950s to the 1970s.__________

<p>Join us at the OAG's Galerie Annexe for the opening reception of <a href="https://oaggao.ca/whats-on/exhibitions/we-do-not-dream-of-labour/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong><em>We do not dream of labour.</em></strong></a></p><p>Evening festivities will include refreshments, signature cocktail, and speeches.</p><p><strong>7 PM </strong>- Speeches at Jackson Café in the Daly Lobby</p><h3><a href="https://oaggao.ca/whats-on/exhibitions/we-do-not-dream-of-labour/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><em>We do not dream of labour</em></a></h3><p>Through explorations of motherhood, nature, music, and bare emotional and physical truths, this exhibition addresses these questions, and shows the diverse ways that Black, Caribbean, and African artists (within the Ottawa-Gatineau region) express rest while altering the art landscape. Elle présente les diverses façons par lesquelles les artistes des communautés noires de la région d’Ottawa-Gatineau, aux origines caribéenne et africaine, voient le repos et transforment la scène artistique.
