This evening will be full of colour, talent, skills, art, and in the true tradition of ballroom, SHADE. </h3>____An official event of and partly sponsored by Pride Montreal.Categories are out now! They are all OTA unless specified. If you are looking to SPONSOR a category, please reach out to events@accmontreal.org. We would love to have cash prizes for every winner, and with your help, it could be possible.Capacity is limited, so if you want to make it to the this fashionable gala, you have to claim your FREE ticket. There is no guaranteed tickets at the door the night of the event. When adding your tickets to your cart, you will have an optional donation. Please, donate generously if you are able to, as this will help us pay our talent better and take care of other logistics like bigger trophies.[In order to maintain a good relationship with the venue, we ask not to litter on the runway. Your house might be penalized if you leave unpicked materials behind after your performance.]____

BQ UP IN PUMPS – THE FLAMBOYANT FRONTRUNNER
Act up, fag out! Show us what a butch queen in heels can do.

FACE WITH PERFORMANCE – THE NOSTALGIC THROWBACK
Take us back to the golden days, when the BQs served face the legendary way a.k.a using elements of pop, dip, and spin.

TRANS MAN OLD WAY – THE KANSAI KING
Once and for all, let’s decide who is the old way ruler to beat in all of the land?

BIZARRE – THE MYSTERIOUS CREATION
Inspired by the Memorial AIDS Quilt, bring us an effect made with any of the items and materials included in the panels:
Fabrics such as lace, suede, leather, mink, taffeta, also Bubble Wrap and other kinds of plastic and even metal. Decorative items like pearls, quartz crystals, rhinestones, sequins, feathers, buttons. Clothing, such as jeans, T-shirts, gloves, boots, hats, uniforms, jackets, flip-flops.Items of a personal nature, such as human hair, cremation ashes, wedding rings, merit badges and other awards, car keys. Unusual items, such as stuffed animals, records, jockstraps, condoms, and bowling balls.

BEGINNER’S RUNWAY – THE NEW STRUT
Whether you are European or All-American, we want to see you in your quilted fashions. Let your legs do the talking!

RUNWAY WITH A TWIST – THE VERS FLEX
Get you someone who can do both! This category is for the runway girlies who can seamlessly switch between All-American and European style at the commentator’s command.

REALNESS* – THE SECRET WEAPON
Are you unclockable on the phone? Come in concealed and get your tens with just your voice. Reveal yourself for your battles, because we want to see the whole fantasy!

(*) This category is open to FQs (transwomen) and drags (queer men up in drag) passing as cisgender women; BQs (queer men) passing as heterosexual men; and transmen or butches (masculine ciswomen) passing as cisgender men. Remember, realness is the ability to blend in cis-hetenormative society, we honour the LGBTQ people in the past who had to conceal their sexualities and gender in order to have a better life at work, school, the streets… and the people that still have to do so to this day.

PERFORMANCE – THE CHOSEN ONE
Each kiki house must send one performance girl (Old Navy, Mulan, Lust, Barbara, KFC, Sankofa, Louboutin, Poseida, etc.). Toronto houses are invited to send their chosen voguer as well.

SEX SIREN – THE FLASHIEST ENTRANCE
The arrival of the AIDS pandemic in the early 80’s prompted a condemnation of the LGBTQ community. Are you ready to fight the stigma? Bring sexy back with a sickening entrance*.

(*) Not allowed: fire hazards like open flames or pyrotechnics; glitter or confetti.

BEST DRESS-CODE AS A HOUSE — THE FASHION SHOWDOWN
The way to incorporate quilt is up to each house, just make sure to bring it coordinated and editorial.

About AIDS Community Care Montreal
ACCM is Quebec’s only HIV and sexual health community organization that provides education for prevention, treatment information, and support services to anglophone and allophone communities. Reflection upon our practices is ongoing, and we aim for ACCM’s services, programming and advocacy to respond to the ongoing effects of colonialism, in particular in the inequalities experienced by Indigenous Peoples in health care and health outcomes today.
