As a non-profit cultural organization, Kelowna Film Society has applied for and been granted an exemption under section 4 of the Motion Picture Act. This exemption allows us to screen films which have not yet been classified by Consumer Protection BC.  Kelowna Film Society is responsible for operating in compliance with the Motion Picture Act and Consumer Protection BC. To attend a Kelowna Film Society film screening (which may not have been classified by Consumer Protection BC), you must be a Kelowna Film Society member.  Your membership is included in the ticket price.The Kelowna Film Society’s past seasons of great cinema have drawn local film fanciers since 2007.  The prestigious Toronto International Film Festival has been the society’s main source of powerful releases from the world of cinema, including foreign language offerings, Canadian films, hard-to-find independent films, quality documentaries, as well as crowd-pleasing comedies, dramas and the occasional block-buster. Helped by many loyal volunteers, the staff of the Orchard Plaza Cineplex, 1876 Cooper Road, Kelowna, and the financial support of discriminating and loyal patrons, the society has supported local film students and film makers with grants, bursaries and other assistance totalling more than $30,000.

Kelowna Film Society Fall 2023 Season

Kelowna Film Society is planning to present 9 interesting films that you will not see in the regular theater lineup for the Fall 2023 Season.  Some films are in another language with subtitles.  Some films are unrated.

Past Lives – “In-Yun” is a Korean concept that suggests that our lives are forever connected with those whose lives we’ve touched and that we will weave in and out of each other’s lives repeatedly. Nora (Greta Lee) and Hae Sung (Teo Yoo) grow up together in Seoul When Nora’s family immigrate to North America their friendship grinds to a halt. Years pass. But they both can’t forget the bond they had in their youth and eventually connect on Skype. Twelve years later they meet in New York but their lives have changed dramatically.The film explores culture, memory and the feelings of What if? What if I’d gone back? What if I’d never left? And are we connected forever to people whose lives we touch?“A movie that liberates your tears and makes you fall in love with it. It is almost assuredly predestined to be the single best movie you see this year. “ Rolling Stone(Korean/English with English subtitles, 1 hour 46 minutes).
