The workshops feature two prominent academics who will discuss how market-based principles can be used to achieve environmental objectives at local, provincial, and federal levels. This framework is based on voluntary agreements, placing value on the environment, and local decision-making.Each workshop will consist of a presentation, a question-and-answer period, and time for informal discussion. The workshops will also provide:<ul><li>Instructors with a framework for teaching policy and developing sustainability modules. </li><li>Students with an understanding of possible new approaches to achieving sustainability objectives. </li><li>External community attendees with a view of BCIT as a thought leader in advancing best practices in sustainability.</li></ul><h2>Speakers</h2>Dr. Glenn Fox, Professor Emeritus, Agricultural and natural resource economist, University of Guelph. Fellow of the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society. He currently serves on the Boards of the Canadian Constitution Foundation, the Energy Probe Research Foundation, and the Canadian Justice Review Board.Ms. Laura Huggins has spent the past 25 years working in the environmental arena—from writing about global issues with the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and as a research fellow at the Property and Environmental Research Center (PERC). She is helping to create the largest wildlife reserve in the United States with American Prairie Reserve.
