Join instructor and artist Kathryn Durst for this special course offering in instructed life drawing!

<h3>Developing strong drawing skills is the basis for all kinds of artistic practise. Leaning to draw from the figure is the best way to improve your observational drawing skills. </h3><p>Join instructor Kathryn Durst as she leads you through the process of seeing and observing the model from a drawing perspective, and translating that impression onto a page. This course will help students obtain the basic skill of drawing the human form. </p><p>We will explore quick 'gesture' drawings and longer poses, discover how to create a volumetric drawing using contour, outline and tonal modeling, and experiment with different media and expressive mark making. </p><p>T﻿his course is offered in 4 sessions. Attendees are welcome to sign up for any number of sessions and attend in any order.</p><p>No experience required, however t﻿his is an adult course, 18+.</p><h3>S﻿ession dates: </h3><p>S﻿ession 1: Wednesday, November 8th 6pm-8:30pm</p><p>S﻿ession 2: Wednesday, December 13th, 6pm-8:30pm</p><p>S﻿ession 3: Wednesday, January 17th, 6pm-8:30pm</p><p>S﻿ession 4: Wednesday, February 14th, 6pm-8:30pm</p><h3>Notes from the instructor: </h3><p>Given the sensitive nature of working from live, nude models, students will be expected to conduct themselves in a mature, professional, courteous, and respectful manner at all times. The instructor, the model, and all students have the right to a safe, productive and friendly environment. Be sure to use the models correct pronouns. Failure to do so will result from being asked to leave the class.</p><p>Do not touch the model. If you would like to request a specific pose from the model, move your own body instead of theirs, or ask the instructor to request the pose. You are also welcome to change your own position in the room but give the model lots of space while doing so. </p><p>While the model is undraped, students are expected to be quiet, and actively drawing. Refrain from side-conversations.</p><p>Absolutely no photographing the model. Please keep cell phones off an away until the final critique. At that point you are welcome to photograph your artwork, and others artwork (with their permission). </p><p>I strive to create a safe environment which is conducive to learning and making art. I believe that creativity and innovation can only happen when there is an environment of openness to be vulnerable and take creative risks. Put-downs and criticism are not tolerated unless within the framework of a constructive artistic critique, centred on improvement and growth. </p><h3>Accessibility</h3><ul><li>G﻿allery entrance and bathroom are wheelchair accessible</li><li>A﻿ll workshop tables will be set up to accommodate mobility aids.</li><li>E﻿arplugs available on site</li></ul><h3><strong>COVID-19</strong></h3><ul><li>M﻿asks are welcome and respected, volunteers and instructors will gladly wear their masks if and when needed, except while eating or drinking.</li><li>M﻿aker Space and Gallery equipped with a Hepa filter</li><li>H﻿and sanitizer provided.</li></ul><p></p>
