YouthLink will delve into various aspects, including the pros and cons of social media, its impacts on mental health, and critical considerations about privacy protection in the digital age.Recommended for Grades 6 – 9Topics that will be covered: Social media and youth mental health:<ul><li>Discussion of pros and cons of social media.</li><li>The impacts of social media on mental health.</li><li>Screen time awareness</li></ul> Privacy Protection:<ul><li>Discussion about the Terms of Service/Agreement on popular social media platforms such as Snapchat.</li><li>What kind of information are you permitting social media services to access?</li><li>How will the choices you make online have an impact on you and your loved ones?</li></ul> Cybercrimes:<ul><li>Cyberbullying</li><li>Conversations with strangers.</li></ul>Presenter: Michael Kim is the Crime Prevention Education Specialist with 6+ years experience in educating community members on crime prevention, public safety, and community development. In his position, he works in accordance with the Calgary Police Service, and has created Gangs, Cannabis and Cyber Safety education programs.
