Empower students to navigate the digital age: Join Raina Delisle as she explores media literacy and responsible news consumption.

The news can inform and inspire, but it can also misinform and mislead. It’s more important than ever for kids to become critical news consumer as they’re spending an increasing amount of time on the internet and social media, where they’re exposed to fake news and clickbait. In this presentation, Raina Delisle, author of Breaking News: Why Media Matters, helps kids understand the important roles the news plays, how the news is made, the challenges and opportunities in the media industry, and how they can get involved and find news they can use.1 hour session includes an optional 15 minute Q&amp;A Recommended for Grades 4 - 9

Raina Delisle is an award-winning writer whose work has been featured in Today’s Parent, Chatelaine, CBC and the Globe and Mail, among many other publications. She has worked in journalism and government communications, giving her a unique perspective on the media industry. Her first book, Fashion Forward: Striving for Sustainable Style, was published in 2022. Raina lives in Victoria, British Columbia, with her family.
