We are delighted to invite the community to a screening of two short films, "Same But Different," and "Woman: It’s Complicated." The films will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Wanda Thomas Bernard, independent senator for Nova Scotia (East Preston). These short films were developed during the course of a research project, Culturally Responsive Healthcare to Reduce Gender-based Violence. The project sprang from established partnerships and prior research that acknowledged the barriers faced by African Nova Scotians in accessing care. Applying an Africentric lens to health and social services highlights institutional and service paradoxes.The event is free and open to the public; all are welcome to attend. Preregistration is required because seats are limited, due to capacity at the venue. However, the event will be recorded by Eastlink and eventually aired as part of their series <a href="https://www.eastlink.ca/black-films-that-teach" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Black Films That Teach</a>Please try to arrive by 2:45 p.m. to be seated before the event begins at 3.
