Le Bureau des affaires francophones et francophiles (BAFF) a pour mission de coordonner, promouvoir et soutenir le développement de programmes et de cours offerts en langue française à l’Université Simon Fraser. Il organise également des activités scientifiques et culturelles auprès de la communauté pour stimuler le rayonnement d’une francophonie plurielle et inclusive.

<h3>Simon Fraser University's Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs (OFFA) is pleased to invite you to the Conference for SFU OFFA's Network for Administrators of B.C. French Immersion Schools .</h3> This one-day conference will be held in English and in-person at the Civic Hotel, Autograph Collection, in Surrey on Thursday, February 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.This conference is a day to learn about and explore ways to respond to the unique needs of the French Immersion program. The day will be dedicated to giving the time for French Immersion administrators to connect and learn from experts in the field in order to best support their practice to retain French immersion teachers and students, and to build an inclusive and strong French Immersion program in their schools. Each administrator will leave the conference with evidence-based strategies to support their program and be connected to a smaller regional group to build community and support amongst French Immersion administrator colleagues.Learn from a variety of experts in French Immersion administration:<ul><li>Keynote speaker Caroline Erdos on "Bilingualism and Biliteracy: A Superpower Within Reach of All Learners" including evidence-based research and practical strategies that administrators can use to support their French Immersion students and teachers from K-12</li><li>Kara Bowles will present the new ACPI (CAIT) French Immersion website zone for administrators with resources and support for FI administrators</li><li>Duncan McIndoe, Manager of French Education at the Ministry of Education and Child Care, will present ways for you to best support your school's program using OLEP funds</li></ul>Time in the afternoon will be dedicated to networking and discussing your successes, barriers and questions in your regional groups.The full program is available on our French Immersion Admin Network website https://www.sfu.ca/baff-offa/en/programs/in-service/admin_network/adminnetwork_conference/home.html. This network is made possible with the participation of Canadian Heritage and the Ministry of Education and Childcare of British Columbia. DATE: Thursday, February 15, 2024TIME: 8:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.LOCATION: Civic Hotel, Autograph Collection,13475 Central Ave, Surrey, B.C., V3T 0L8AUDIENCE: Directors of Instruction, District Principals, Principals and Vice-Principals of French Immersion programs from K-12 - all activities will be conducted in EnglishCOST : Registration cost is FREE for all administrators of French Immersion schools/districts.*Travel bursaries are available for administrators outside of the Lower Mainland so make sure to click on the correct ticket type.INCLUDED IN YOUR REGISTRATION: Access to the keynote presentation, a one-year membership to ACPI A+, workshops, breakfast, drinks and snacks during the health break, lunch and a glass of wine and appetizers during the wine and cheese reception at the end of the day.The organizing committee (SFU OFFA and a group of BC administrators of French Immersion schools) looks forward to seeing you on February 15!
