The Centre of Excellence virtual workshops combine theoretical content with videos and hands-on skill demonstrations, providing the learner with an opportunity to put pediatric knowledge into practice. Further benefits of the virtual workshops include: <ul><li>Acting as a refresher course for those who took the in-person workshops less than a year ago. </li><li>Assisting participants in preparing for an upcoming in-person workshop. </li></ul>Learning objectives<ul><li>Gain a working knowledge of principles of patient- and family-centered care</li><li>Identify effective, appropriate, developmentally supportive communication skills to best support a child and family 

</li><li>Explore communication strategies for a child that is nonverbal </li><li>Develop strategies to support infants, children, youth and families in coping with stressful procedures/interventions</li><li>Articulate the definitions and functions of play</li><li>Identify ways to include play while providing care to children </li></ul>
