Ignite Student Design CompetitionThank you very much for your interest in the Ignite Student Design Competition. This is the 4th annual CSC Calgary Ignite - Student Design Competition. It keeps getting better every year. As a Student participant, not only will you be able to develop a creative, technically-sound submission with industry recognition and the chance of a monetary prize.To launch Ignite, we will be hosting a Kick-off event with the CSC Connection Cafe on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 3:00pm – 9:00pm, location The Winston Golf Club.Students are encouraged to come to the trade show during connections cafe 3:00pm to 6:00pm Kick Off: Wednesday, Feb 28, 2024, 6:00pm - 10:00pm | Winston Golf ClubWorkshop: Saturday, March 2nd, 8:00am - Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 Location Mount Royal University Work Space is only availble until Sunday 5:00pm. Ignite Objective To foster problem solving, collaboration and solutions-based outcomes that draw on the strengths of team members working under strict time constraints. The competition mission is aimed to improve integration of young professionals into the industry through mentorship and collaboration with industry leaders.Target Audience Currently the target audience are upcoming design professionals: <ul><li>Interior Design Students from Mount Royal University</li><li>Architectural Technology Students from SAIT</li><li>Construction Project Management Students from SAIT</li><li>Other Design Students are welcome to participate</li><li>(Goals are to include more disciplines and other institutions in future events)</li></ul>Competition The Ignite Student Design Competition is a CSC initiative to expose upcoming professionals in the industry to a mock project for a real client. Students develop their submissions – with a focus on the importance of quality documents – aided by input from multiple industry representatives and the client. The event is a fast-paced affair commencing this year with a tradeshow and Kickoff Night on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, followed by 2 intense weekend days with peers and mentors ending at 11:59pm on Sunday, March 3rd. The CSC-assigned teams, meeting for the first time at the Kick-off event, are a mix of Architectural Technologists, Project Managers, Interior Designers and other Design Students.CSC is planning for a Awards’ Night gala on March 22nd, 2024. A variety of prizes are awarded based on input from industry mentors and judges.
