Anti-racist & anti-discriminatory practice

<p>This presentation offers an in-depth exploration into Afropessimism, a critical theory that examines the enduring legacy of slavery and racial injustice. The presenter discusses the historical and contemporary perspectives of Black suffering and resilience, providing a nuanced understanding of the Black experience. The session also delves into the concept of abolition, advocating for the dismantling of oppressive systems that perpetuate inequality. A key highlight of the talk is the emphasis on Black Joy as a powerful force of resistance and a testament to the unyielding spirit of the Black community. This presentation is not just an educational journey but an invitation to engage in meaningful dialogue and embrace transformative ideas for societal change.</p><p><br></p><h3>Speaker</h3><p>Vincent Mousseau, RSW, is a social worker, community organizer, Vanier Scholar and PhD student at Dalhousie. Their areas of expertise include anti-oppressive framework, intersectional analysis, Black Lives Matter activism, contemporary anti-assimilationist queer activism, and anti-racist practice within 2SLGBTQ+ communities.</p><p><br></p><h3>Eligibility</h3><p>There are no prerequisites for this session. You'll need a device that can use <a href="https://zoom.us/test" title="https://zoom.us/test" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Zoom</a>, and a reasonably reliable internet connection.
