Join <a href="https://mayworks.ca/festival-2024/labour-pains" title="https://mayworks.ca/festival-2024/labour-pains" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Labour Pains</a> curator, Emma Steen, for a guided tour of the exhibition followed by a discussion with artists Peter Morin and collaborator Isaac King.<a href="https://mayworks.ca/festival-2024/labour-pains" title="https://mayworks.ca/festival-2024/labour-pains" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Labour Pains</a> explores how healthcare impacts and affects precarious workers with varying needs, access points, and abilities. Presenting work by by Camila Salcedo, Peter Morin, and Sean Lee with Birdie Gerhl, Labour Pains looks at three major themes that many workers face while attempting to navigate healthcare in this country: privatization and financial strain of freelance employment; Indigenous relations to healthcare and living outside of urban centres; and disability, accessibility, and Crip Politics.Refreshments served. Transporation: Round trip GO Train fare provided to those traveling from Toronto. Bring your one way receipt to the event where Mayworks volunteers will reimburse you for a round trip fare.Accessibility: ASL provided. Masks required. WAHC is physically accessible for those who use mobility aids. All building floors are accessible via the elevator. Two gender neutral bathrooms in the basement have a physically accessible stall.
