Understand biological amendments and how biologically active soil can improve productivity and plant health

University of Victoria

E. Brooke Hayes, PhD candidate and director of the EcoSoil lab at the University of Victoria will lead an in-lab and on-farm workshop on biologically active soil.Part one: Two hour in-lab session at UVic in David Strong Building C116 on understanding biological amendments, and how biologically active compost can increase local soil biology and improve productivity and plant health.Note: Building and room will be announced prior to the event.Part two <a href="https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/building-biologically-active-soil-part-two-tickets-912765003697?aff=oddtdtcreator" title="https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/building-biologically-active-soil-part-two-tickets-912765003697?aff=oddtdtcreator" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">(click here to register)</a>: Three hour hands-on field workshop at Sandown Centre putting theoretical knowledge into practice by building biologically active compost, creating compost tea and extract, and application considerations such as rates, methods and frequency. Funding for the Knowledge and Technology Transfer program is provided by the governments of Canada and British Columbia through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative.
