BROWNMAN AKOUSTIC TRIO Internationally acclaimed Brooklyn, NY jazz trumpet player BROWNMAN ALI -- a recent JUNO Award nominee -- returns to Kitchener's Counterpoint Brewing Co. to deliver a casual summer night's worth of Miles Davis' favourites. Like most top-shelf trumpet players, Brownman grew up with the work of the great Miles Davis and often enjoys rinsing his 50's &amp; 60's repertoire in the timeless trio setting (trumpet, bass, drums). The trio will delve into material from Miles' time on the Prestige label, explore tunes from Kind Of Blue, and deliver some tracks from "Miles Smiles" and Miles' 60's band that changed the face of jazz. This show will be what's called in New York -- "a blowing session" -- whereby tunes are called at the spur of the moment, and the trio will attack them with panance for some real deal NYC style jazz explorations (as they did in the 50's in the time of Miles and Coltrane). Splitting his time between Toronto, ON &amp; Brooklyn, NY, when not leading 8 groups of his own (including the National Jazz Award winning BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO &amp; Montreal Jazz Fest's "Grand Prix du Jazz" winners CRUZAO), he is also a highly in-demand studio session musician having appeared on over 300 recordings to date, and is the CEO of the acclaimed Brooklyn-based record label BROWNTASAURAS RECORDS.
