Ontario ASCD continues their monthly CEI (Connect-Engage-Inspire) chat with Andrea Fanjoy. She will discuss entrepreneurship as pedagogy.

Exciting things are underway in education. Project-Based Learning, robotics and coding, design thinking, and more are making their way into schools and developing relevant skills in today’s students. Andrea Fanjoy suggests entrepreneurship is worth adding to the mix. More than just a club, it develops the 21st century skills that we know all students need. Join this chat to learn more about the why and how of entrepreneurship as pedagogy for all students.

Guest Presenter Bio:Andrea has been part of the Kingsway College School community in west Toronto for the past 18 years. Currently the Head of Senior School, previous positions at KCS include Assistant Head, Academics; Director of Curriculum; and teaching assignments that include French, science, art, and reading.

Since beginning her career in 1989, she has taught students from pre-school to high school at public and independent schools in Japan, Ottawa, and Toronto. Education, and realizing the potential in children and youth, are her evident lifelong passions. Her favourite moments are when students approach her with big ideas, leadership projects, business proposals, and ways to make KCS better. Supporting everything from grade 2 student-led dance parties to students building rocket launchers from scratch have helped fill her days.

Andrea has enjoyed telling the stories of whole-child education in the KCS Matters blog since 2011. Playing a lead role in establishing the new KCS Senior School, opening in 2021, is her most exciting current project.
