Marketing your artistic endeavors involves many aspects of traditional project/service marketing but we often work from an out of pocket or none existent budget. Take control and oversee your own marketing procedures and processes with a little DIY attitude. This workshop will outline some key consideration points with tips and discussion on how to customize your approach to create your own voice and build an audience.Topics to be covered:<ul><li>Establishing your presence</li><li>Know your audience</li><li>Building your network</li><li>Create your press kit</li><li>Social media do’s and don’t</li></ul> Instructor: Darcy WalshA lifelong music fan, holding various behind the scenes roles over the past 2 decades, Darcy has a long history of supporting independent music. The DIY approach to podcasting lured him in with music news coverage and artist interviews. East Coast DNA was created by brothers Darcy n’ Andrew Walsh in 2021 as a podcast covering the reemergence of Canada’s East Coast music scene. The series quickly expanded to feature regular interviews with the people behind the music you love and video content, as seen on YouTube and across social media channels. Now available on all streaming platforms with YouTube bonus content (live performances and bonus episodes), you can follow East Coast DNA on all social media platforms for spotlights on releases and events across Eastern Canada.(Select episodes of East Coast DNA also aired on Caper Radio) This workshop is funded by the Department of Community, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.
