Save the date!The Centre of Genomics and Policy (CGP) is proud to host the 2nd Bartha Maria Knoppers Annual Lecture. This year's keynote speaker is Eva Winkler (Prof. Dr. med. Dr. phil.)Dr. Winkler will talk about the "New Ethics for Genomic Newborn Screening?" Eva Winkler has two professional careers: in Medical Ethics and in Oncology. She holds a doctorate in cancer research from Heidelberg University / German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and a PhD in medical and health ethics from the University of Basel, Switzerland.She heads the Section for Translational Medical Ethics at the Medical Faculty, Heidelberg University. Her research focuses on empirically informed applied ethics and informing health policies for research, clinical care and public health.As a senior physician in hematology and oncology she is one of the governing Directorsof the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT), Heidelberg. At NCT she is also the scientific director and spokesperson for EURAT – a research platform for Ethical and Legal Aspects of Translational Medicine at Heidelberg (<a href="http://www.eurat.info/" title="http://www.eurat.info/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">www.eurat.info</a>).Eva Winkler is committed to further advance and professionalize medical ethics and shape the discipline and its contribution to research, the healthcare system and politics. Hence, she supports the Academy for Ethics in Medicine (German Society for Ethics in Medicine) as vice president and is elected chairwoman of the Central Ethics Commission at the Federal Medical Association (ZEKO).
