My name is Alexandra Dobre and I am a Plant-Based Educator and a Licensed Food For Life Instructor with the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine (PCRM). I provide evidence-based nutrition education and cooking classes that focus on a low fat, high fiber, whole foods plant-based diet. I have a Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate from AFPA and I've been vegan for the last 10 years. I'm here to share my passion for cooking with plants and show you how easy and delicious cooking with plants can be.  I also hold an MLIS and  doing an MEd part time.

In this class, part of the Food for Life program developed by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), we explore the powerful connection between diet, hormones, and cancer. The curriculum is based on the popular book Your Body in Balance: The New Science of Food, Hormones, and Health by Dr. Neal Barnard, MD, FACC, a leading voice in preventive medicine and plant-based nutrition.PCRM, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing health through research, education, and advocacy, developed the Food for Life program to share evidence-based knowledge on how a low-fat, high-fiber, whole foods, plant-based diet can help prevent and manage chronic diseases. This class focuses specifically on hormone-related cancers, including breast, uterine, and ovarian cancer in women, and prostate and testicular cancer in men.You will learn how the foods you eat can directly influence your hormone levels, and how adopting a plant-based diet can help regulate these hormones, reducing the risk of cancer and improving survival outcomes for those who have been diagnosed.
