A Case for Evidence-based Pollinators, A conversation with Dr. Sheila Colla

From this presentation you will gain a greater understanding of our important pollinators and learn about the status of wild bees, the main stressors they face, and what we can all do to help these important pollinators. The presentation will be a nice tie-in for those of you who recently purchased pollinator friendly plants at our Spring Friends of Pinery Park Native Plant sale, and perhaps you’ll be inspired for our next sale in the Fall.Dr. Sheila Colla is an Assistant Professor and Research Chair in Interdisciplinary Conservation Science at York University. She has been studying the ecology and conservation status of wild bee for more than a decade and was the first to quantitatively document the decline of the Rusty-Patched Bumblebee. She helps run the community science program BumbleBeeWatch (https://www.bumblebeewatch.org) and co-authored the book "Bumblebees of North America: An Identification Guide (Princeton University Press, 2014)
