Ottawa Black Mental Health Coalition

This month we recognize Welcome Ottawa Week with a special extended edition of ACB Intersections featuring Upstream Ottawa.

Supporting ACB Youth from an Africentric lens Upstream Ottawa presents an overview of the Substance Abuse Program for African Canadian and Caribbean Youth (SAPACCY). It will consider some of the unique challenges that Black youth, their families, and caregivers face in accessing mental health and substance use support programs. The presentation will also focus on issues relating to anti-Black racism, criminalization, poverty, and other forms of oppression in mental health care and related systems, which have caused inequities in access, experience, and outcomes for the Black youth.
