Event description

Description

Take the opportunity to share your team's synthetic biology project at geekStarter's Fall 2016 aGEM Competition and Workshop. Alberta's collegiate and high-school iGEM teams will come together to present their work, receive feedback from a panel of subject matter experts, and get ready for the 2016 iGEM Giant Jamboree.

Event Information

Prior to competition: The iGEM teams will submit a summary of their project (max. 500 words) no later than Sept. 8. The judging rubric will be shared two weeks prior to the competition.

Competition day - Saturday 17 Sept: Each iGEM team will give a 20 min presentation on their project and current results. The order will be decided by random draw during the 5 minute changeover between presentations.

The presentations will be evaluated by a panel of judges according to the evaluation criteria on the rubric.

Each presentation will be followed by a 10 min Q&A. This will give judges the opportunity to clarify any remaining questions and complete their evaluations.

Travel awards: The recipient teams and the award amounts will be decided based on the teams' scores.

Workshop day - Sunday 18 Sept: Each iGEM team will meet individually with each of the judges to discuss their projects and receive feedback.
