The Cathedral Church of All Saints presents a benefit concert to support Alzheimer’s research. &quot;Standard Time &quot; featuring musicians Irene Wilkinson on vocals. Georges Hebert on Guitar, Dave Staples on Piano and Jamie Gatti on bass offers some of the best in nostalgic, romantic and mellow jazz. These seasoned musicians bring a wealth of experience to their music and singly, have played all over the globe under the jazz, big band, musical theatre, country, folk, world music and classical umbrellas. Between the years 2016 and 2019, Standard Time raised almost $10 000 for local and National charities. Please note that masks must be worn and vaccination status will be checked. Irene Wilkinson has worked for half of her life in biomedical sciences and the other half in performing arts. Following successful tours of the UK and Europe with her sister and their band “Hermanas”, she came to Canada and worked as a radio variety producer for CBC’s National network. After raising a family she reignited the musical side of her life through school musicals (directing and choreographing). Irene has a strong desire to give back and organizes benefit concerts for local and National charities. Two of her greatest passions are reviving the great standards from the “Golden Era of Song” … and singing jazz.Georges Hebert although a jazz guitarist, is perhaps best known for his work and tours with Anne Murray (he was her personal guitarist for many years). Georges has performed, at various venues in the Maritimes and across the world with such artists as Denny Doherty, Moe Koffman, Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield, The Mamas &amp; the Papas, Vera Lynn and Roger Whittaker. He has been featured on several television shows including appearances on The Johnny Carson show, The Merv Griffin Show, and with The Boston Pops. He has played on BBC-TV and venues such as Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall and London’s Royal Albert Hall. Georges continues a busy schedule of touring, playing and recording in his studio (Studio Arts) in Bedford, Nova Scotia.Dave Staples is a veteran East Coast performer and music educator and maintains a busy freelance career as a pianist, trombonist, composer, adjudicator and recording artist. Dave has performed and recorded with both national and international artists including Dionne Warwick, Bobby Curtola, Mike Murley, Kenny Wheeler, John Chiasson, and with groups such as the Maritime Jazz Orchestra, Scott and the Rocks, the Mingus Project, the Halifax Trombone Summit and his own Dave Staples Septet. In 1995, he received the ECMA with Jeff Goodspeed as Jazz Artists of the Year for their album release of “Eastern Passage”(CBC Productions) and is featured on the 2006 ECMA Jazz Album of the Year “Tom Roach: Piano Trios “(CBC Productions).Jamie Gatti a professional bassist for 35 years, Gatti has recorded with many artists around the globe. He participated in the Ottawa music scene playing in many jazz clubs, sessions, theatre shows and with orchestras under the direction of people like Boris Brott, David Foster and Howard Cable. He presently tours and records with the Barra MacNeils. As well as recording with other Canadian artists, he plays sessions at CBC, with Symphony Nova Scotia and at Neptune Theatre. Since 1992 Gatti has recorded 4 CDs and the last one ‘Over Time’, was nominated in the Best Jazz Artist category in the 2007 East Coast Music Awards. Jamie also won Music Nova Scotia’s Musician of the year and Jazz Recording of the year in that same year. Playing all styles of music has filtered into Jamie’s writing and he enjoys combining, many different musical genres.
